Poets and Painters is an exhibition celebrating a happy working partnership between visual artists and poets. To complement the work on display, two separate poetry workshops will key in to the close relationship between art and poetry:

On Sunday 29 July Graham Burchell will ask, ‘What’s missing from the PICTRE?’
The answer, of course, is ‘U’. If that’s not too cryptic, join Graham’s poetry workshop, where he will use work from John Burnside, Roy Fisher and others as starting points. From there, you will be invited to place yourself into landscapes portrayed in the exhibition, and report back using all available sensory possibilities.

On Tuesday 31 July Jennie Osborne will lead an evening workshop on the theme of
‘Painting With Words’. Again using using visual art as inspiration, Jennie will show how you can build a picture using the poet’s basic tools – words.

Both Jennie Osborne and Graham Burchell are published poets and long-standing members of the South Devon-based writers’ collective, Moor Poets. They are also experienced workshop leaders, able to strike creative sparks and encourage them into flame.

Beginners will be encouraged, and more experienced writers will find much to inspire them.
