"My latest series of paintings was started about a year ago when the whole juggling act thing had come to a head. The nature of our 21st Century existences in multiple roles has an inevitable effect on how we work. Devoid of the luxury of uninterrupted periods working all day and often into the night, these paintings echo the fragmented nature of my days. You could say the holes rubbed into the surface are snapshot views of frozen time and focus. Each picture is peppered with little lives which we have a chance to see into, held in place by a solid field of colour or common thread that holds us all together. A product of snippets of studio time, the paintings are built up of layers of old work and mixed media. Scratched into, cut up and reassembled, traces of these layers or 'lives' are seen beneath the surface to remind us of the complexities of experiences past and present." Sara has exhibited in numerous shows in the US, Poland, and around the UK. Her art tutoring has taken her as far afield as Estonia and Chile. She currently lives in South Devon, working on the land, in the studio and around local schools where she runs art workshops. Her paintings are as much a result of years of art study and travel, meetings and teachings of children and adults, as a product of being happily settled in rural heaven with an urge to paint and do what feels intuitively right. www.sarastudio.net
