Linda Wevill

A varied exhibition of photographs focusing on the coast, including experiments with time exposure
to change an already beautiful scene into something more ethereal, dramatic and atmospheric.

Susan and Linda have been working towards exhibitions together for three years, concentrating particularly
on the healthcare sector with major shows at Milton Keynes Hospital in 2008 and the Royal United Hospital in Bath in 2009.

Susan Brown has been involved with photography for over 20 years.
Licentiateship (1981) and Associateship (1983) were followed by Fellowship of the Royal Photographic Society in 1985,
the Artiste Federation International de l'Art Photographique (AFIAP) in 2010,
and Excellence Federation International de l'Art Photographique (EFIAP) in March 2011.
She has recently become a member of The Devon Guild of Craftsmen.
Her work has appeared in a number of prestigious publications, and she has exhibited in over 20 countries.
Susan has a particular interest in 'Arts in Health', and 9 years ago founded the charitable arts organisation, MK Arts for Health.

"The eye does not always see things the way the camera does.
I consider photography to be an art form of painting with available light.
Changing intensity, colour and direction of light results in a change of mood of the same elements.
I respond to the intrinsic power of light which continuously alters shape and form.
Further changes can be made by exposure and shutter speed, tools uniquely available to the photographer.
Some of my images are full of human warmth and humour, encapsulating a moment in time.
Others are ethereal, dreamlike and considered, so requiring planning and long time exposures to see beneath the 'seen' image."

Linda Wevill, too, has exhibited internationally, has had work in several publications,
including the Edinburgh Festival where her image was on the front cover of the 2010 programme.
Her award winning image at the 11th Internationale Aqueducte 2010 Salon
has been retained for inclusion in the International Photography Museum.
In 2008 Linda achieved the Associate Distinction of the Royal Photographic Society (ARPS),
followed by the Distinction of Merit of Photographic Alliance of Great Britain (DPAGB) in 2010,
and the Artiste Federation International de l'Art Photographique in March 2011.

"My Associate Distinction of the RPS was gained with a panel of local landscapes, where my passion for photography
was combined with my love of the natural beauty of the South Devon area.
I want to capture mood and atmosphere in my images, so I tend to shoot when the light is low in the sky or just below the horizon.
At these times of day there are beautiful colours reflecting on the mist, frost and sea.
As well as the constantly changing colours, the coastline changes with the receding tide, exposing rocks and sand patterns that cannot be seen at high water.

Since working for my Associateship my work has become more varied, although seascapes continue to be my main focus.
I enjoy experimenting with shutter speeds in order to capture the movement of the sea and the atmosphere of the scene."
