Mosaics, Chinese Brush Painting, Printmaking and Jewellery

Jude Freeman is a mosaic artist who divides her time between South Devon and Southern Italy.
She is a member of the Devon Guild of Craftsmen.
Her work incorporates Venetian glass smalti, stone, marble, gold, silver and bronze leaf, pottery, pyrite, paua shell,
vintage china, Japanese porcelain, and her own ceramic tiles. Rather than drawing out a design, she spends time
selecting pieces and making intuitive decisions about composition, colour and cutting.
No grout is used, allowing for a highly textural surface with detail and depth.
Some works are abstract, while others enjoy a narrative, but all are inspired by travel and colour.

Lisa Class studied Chinese brush painting under Xiao Bai Li,
and works in a traditional Chinese style which dates back to 4,000 BC.
In Chinese brush painting, the four seasons are represented by 'the four gentlemen': bamboo, chrysanthemum, orchid and blossom.
Lisa's paintings include these four elements, alongside the Lotus flower,
a positive symbol of growth and the overcoming of adversity.
As well as following a traditional approach, Lisa also explores more abstract approaches of her own,
and runs workshops for children and adults.

Sally-Ann Crowe enjoys taking a spontaneous approach to the traditional printmaking techniques of monotype, linocut
and collagraph, with the intention of engaging the viewer in a straightforward relationship with nature.

Using recycled silver ethically sourced from UK domestic and industrial scrap metal,
Yume Martin creates beautiful silver jewellery inspired by natural and abstract forms.
She began her formal training in Mexico, although is largely self-taught, and prefers the use of the most basic tools
and techniques to craft her rings and bangles in naive and rustic Japanese style.
She exhibits her work internationally.
