"Attempt what is not certain. Certainty may or may not come later. It may then be a valuable delusion."
Richard Diebenkorn
Often abstract, Jeremy's paintings are a response to how he sees and experiences places.
The qualities of light, colour and space are important elements, while gestural markmaking and
the qualities of the paint itself play their part in the process of creative research.
Jeremy refers to sketchbook studies and drawings, and his paintings are continually reworked and layered,
seeking to create "a visual equivalent rather than a representation;
I am not making pictures, but paintings in which the image is the result of the painting process."
Landscape is a strong theme, with recent works exploring Dorset, Cornwall and southern France.
Jeremy, who completed his MA in Contemporary Visual Art at Falmouth College of Art in 2004,
has been a popular tutor of contemporary drawing and painting at Harbour House and other venues.
He has recently exhibited at Sladers Yard Gallery in Dorset, and was a prize winner in the Dorchester Arts Open in 2010.
