Kingsbridge Cookworthy Museum

Cookworthy on the Quay

An Exhibition of Artefacts and Photographs

Tuesday 27 September - Sunday 2 October 2011

10 am - 5 pm, Tuesday - Saturday

10 am - 4 pm, Sunday

Kingsbridge Cookworthy Museum presents its third exhibition of photographs at Harbour House,
including 19th and early 20th Century images of Kingsbridge, Salcombe and the surrounding area,
selected from a vast archive of over 12,000 images.

This temporary exhibition offers a glimpse into the history of our local area,
with a range of fascinating artefacts, and the ever popular 'Then and Now' display
which compares early black and white photographs of local town and village views
with modern colour digital images,
and visitors to the gallery will have the opportunity to search the museum database for information
or photographs of particular locations.
Many of the images have been gifted to the museum as plates, negatives or prints,
as more people come to realise the value of allowing the material to be archived for future generations.

Visitors will also be able to get their hands on some very unusual objects,
in a display drawn from the Museum's collection of artefacts.
Some of the Museum's series of DVDs of local images will also be available to view.

Kingsbridge Cookworthy Museum is a lively, local museum,
housed in the 17th Century Grammar School building at the top of Fore Street.
It aims to show something old and teach something new, and every year introduces new displays.
