10am - 3.30pm Informal Gallery Talk with the Artist: Saturday 6 December at 11 am
Aline Rose, well-known locally for her paintings of flora and fauna, expands her horizons to take in the wider landscape in her new collection of work, Near and Far. Aline describes this as a process of "exploring my roots through different landscapes by portraying aspects of both old and new homes in continental, American and local British landscapes." The Austrian Alps have been enormously inspirational in this project, and over a three-week period this summer Aline produced a number of line and wash studies in situ, and acrylic paintings in the studio at home. These contrast with her studies of Kingsbridge rooftops and other local coastal scenes - including delicately painted pebbles from the beach. "Again, wildlife and flora are shown in my pictures not just as an integral part of those landscapes, but its lifeblood, the sentient element that creates the scent and sound, the mystery of a particular place." Aline paints full-time and has participated in several wildlife art exhibitions, has completed a number of murals and private commissions, and is a regular exhibitor at Harbour House.
