Thursday 19 June 7 - 9.30pm Cost: £20/*£18 per person Tel:01803 868766 info@lifeworks4.me.uk In this workshop we will use Awareness through Movement' to explore some different ways of breathing - on the premise that we were designed to breath in many ways to cope with different situations. "If you don't breathe you'll die....." Our breath comes and goes, comes and goes, twenty-four hours seven days a week and it's just as well isn't it? By becoming more aware of the mechanisms that participate in creating the flow of breath, we can restore youthful levels of vitality and well-being, and release ourselves from chronic patterns of tension and stress. Awareness through Movement Classes take place lying on the floor, or sometimes sitting. You are guided verbally through a particular sequence of movements - designed around either an area of the body, for example hips and lower back, or a movement theme such as turning or bending. They are repeated and explored slowly and gently allowing you to learn to sense or feel yourself in your movement, which in turn enables you to release chronic patterns of tension and move more freely and easily. Suitable for everyone, of all levels of ability.
Individual lessons in ‘Functional Integration’ - are also available by appointment. They are advised for anyone who has a specific issue as they are tailored to meet individual needs and situation. Chronic back problems Joint problems Recovering from injury Tension, stress Chronic Pain Neurological conditions such as stroke, MS, RSI, ME Individual sessions revolve around a question: How do your habits of movements help you, but at the same time stand in the way of you doing better? In a typical lesson you and I will discuss this, then you will lie fully-clothed on a special low table while I use my hands to guide, support and address your particular habits of moving and holding yourself. The exact way of working evolves out of your particular situation. Your increasing self-awareness enables you to let go of unhelpful habits and adopt new, effective ones which allow you to move more freely.
