Counselling
A Range of Counselling Services is offered at Harbour House:

space2talk Counselling Service
with Sally Hunt

Counselling offers you a regular time and safe place to share your thoughts, feelings and difficulties,
explore possible solutions and become able, through a greater sense of self-awareness, knowledge and well-being,
to make changes if you choose to do so.
My name is Sally Hunt and I am the BACP Accredited Counsellor at space2talk.
I hold a Diploma in Integrative Counselling, am also a Registered Nurse and have further training and experience
in the cognitive behavioural approach and working with traumatic loss and bereavement.
I have been working as a counsellor in the Kingsbridge area since 2003, including 3 years at local GP surgeries within the NHS.
I will enable you to choose how to use your counselling sessions.
You may wish to focus on your past to gain a better understanding of yourself; or focus on the present, how you are thinking, feeling and behaving now,
and learn strategies to live more comfortably in the future.
I have the knowledge, skills and experience to work with either or integrate both ways of counselling - the choice is yours.
As we work together, you will have the opportunity to explore what is happening between us,
what you are thinking and feeling in that moment, and so increase your understanding of yourself and how you relate to others around you:
invaluable when relationships, whether at home or work, are a source of tension.
Whatever difficulties you are going through, do consider calling me to arrange a professional assessment session.
You can decide whether counselling is for you and if you proceed, further sessions are arranged depending on your needs.

Chartered Counselling Psychologist,
Dr Lynne Gravell (CPsychol; PsychD)

Clients come to me in various states of anxiety, confusion or emotional difficulty, and by working together we help to shed light upon the underlying issues that may have contributed to their current state of unease. Together we work to raise awareness and understanding of the nature of their relationships and behaviour patterns in order to foster a greater sense of ease with themselves. This helps to create new possibilities in terms of relationships and an expanded sense of future life choices.

Trained in a number of models, including Psychodynamic, Person Centred and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), I work integratively and tailor my approach depending upon the nature of the individual and the issues they come with. However, in general I embrace the psychodynamic principles that highlight the importance of early childhood experiences and the effect that they can have upon current relationships and behaviours. I am also interested in how emotional issues can impact upon the body and cause physical pain, and I work to help clients raise awareness of the relationship between their mind, body and emotions. It is very important to me that you feel safe and supported in our relationship and that you know that you are heard in a genuine and non judgmental way.

I work in both a short term and long term manner, as appropriate for the client. I offer anything from one-off sessions, to long term work.
Standard sessions last 50 minutes and extended sessions last 1 ¼ hours.

Qualifications
I have a Practitioner Doctorate (PsychD) in Psychotherapeutic and Counselling Psychology from the University of Surrey. I am a Chartered Counselling Psychologist (CPsychol) accredited by the British Psychological Society (BPS) and adhere to the BPS Code of Ethics and Conduct in my practice. I have worked in the NHS in a Psychotherapy department and as part of a Community Mental Health Team (CMHT). I have also worked in an organisational setting providing therapy to staff in need of help.
