Most artists keep sketchbooks and notes and have many of them on shelves at home and in studios.

They are more often than not created with enthusiasm, joy and spontaneity and then put away never to be used again.
Often the pieces in the sketchbook, particularly on-site sketches, are more successful than the
“finished” artwork that comes from them.
We seem to lose something in the transfer process.

This course will show you how to develop imagery and notes from your sketchbooks and use them to develop artworks with greater depth.
Anita will encourage the continued use of sketchbooks throughout the course
to ensure that the sketches created in them have the right information to be used back in the studio.

During the six weeks you will explore mixed-media, collage, paint,
drawing & simple printmaking techniques using your sketchbooks as the starting point.

Anita will help you to find your creative voice using existing sketchbooks
as well as encouraging new ones to be created.
The sessions will be relaxed with the emphasis on experimentation
and risk-taking in a supportive and creative environment.

“Risk- taking by trying new techniques and materials will allow you to develop as an Artist;
staying on familiar ground leads ultimately to dissatisfaction in your work as you are making no progress,
merely repeating what you already know”

This course is suitable for people who have experience of using sketchbooks and those who have attended
one of Anita's “Creating Artists Journals & Sketchbooks” courses.

Bring with you any sketchbooks (current or old) and any art materials that you usually use.
Anita will provide all other materials.

There will be a small charge for some materials.
