Making visual diaries in the form of journals and sketchbooks gives the creator a personal space to express themselves in anyway they like.
No rules - just freedom to try out new ideas, materials and methods.

The main benefit of working in a book is that it is not for public view and therefore creativity is not suppressed by thoughts of failure, success or outcome.
It can be a very powerful way of finding one's own creative voice.
The books can be just for fun, artworks in their own right, or act as a springboard for exploring other art forms such as painting, printmaking, collage or textiles.

Anita will show you how to take notes, collect ideas and materials, and then offer a variety of ways of presenting these in a sketchbook or journal.

The first week will introduce you to the concept of journalling and how to get started.
Time will be spent exploring materials both familiar and unfamiliar, and then combining them to produce exciting and expressive mixed media images.

Subsequent weeks will be spent working in your chosen book.
Anita will help you to develop your own ideas or provide stimuli to get you started.
Each week new techniques and materials will be introduced to add to your ever-expanding repertoire!

The sessions will be relaxed and the emphasis is on fun.
The course is suitable for all abilities, from complete beginners to experienced artists who feel the need to break away from traditional methods or need a change of direction.

Bring with you any art materials that you currently have (water based paints such as acrylics & watercolours, brushes, crayons, pencils etc.)

Anita will provide all other materials, as well as the above if you don't have any at home.

There will be a small charge for card and paper only.
